Wallace was a native and lifelong resident of York County. In his early years he worked on the boat F.D. Crockett (log deck boat built in 1924 for freight hauling and the buying and transporting of produce) and later with Coleman Green as a plumber and continued through his life with his best friend Billy Green. Wallace retired from Fort Eustis after 30 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a life member of Providence United Methodist Church, Fidelity Men’s Bible Class and member of the Woodmen of World.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Lucy and a daughter, Brenda Gayle and is survived by his children Wallace “Kimmey” Smith Jr., David “Little Duck” Smith Don “Mike” Smith and Marion Jones and her husband Keith all of York County; a sister, Jean S. Krowe and two grandchildren, Travis and Rachel Jones.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in Amory Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery by Rev. C. Douglas Akers.
