With Halloween and the World Series over and the election only days away, James City County has a plan for your leaves.
Here’s the right way to dispose of them, according to a release from the county:
•Put them into clear bags, no larger than 40-gallons.
•Do not include tree limbs, brush or other bulky items for collection with leaves.
•Leave the bagged leaves at the curb by 8 a.m. on the first county collection day for your voting district: Stonehouse/North Powhatan, Dec. 1-2; Jamestown/South Powhatan, Dec. 5-9; Berkeley/Roberts, Dec. 12-16.
To find your scheduled collection date, check this map.
At no charge, county residents can bring bagged leaves to the Jolly Pond Convenience Center, 1204 Jolly Pond Rd., from Nov. 5-20, 2016 and from Jan. 2-15, 2017, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Residents may also haul their own leaves to a solid waste facility, but they will need one coupon for every four lawn- and leaf-sized bags. Coupons are available from the Treasurer’s Office, Satellite Services Office, Freedom Park, the James City County Recreation Center, the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center or online.
