Middle school students from Williamsburg James City County Schools made medal-winning star turns at a statewide theater festival Thursday.
Teams from three WJCC middle schools participated in the Virginia Theatre Association Conference, and each brought home hardware, according to a release.
Toano Middle School was one of two gold medalists and placed in the top three, along with Thomas Harrison Middle School, which is in Harrisonburg, and Gainesville Middle School.
In addition, WJCC’s Berkeley and Lois S. Hornsby middle schools were among the five silver medalists.
Two WJCC students ranked among six participants honored with best acting awards: Nia Mucher, who is a student at Berkeley, and Emma Matkins, a Toano student.
And five WJCC actors were among 12 recognized with all-star cast nominations: Ryan Holcomb from Berkeley; Jaisun Dixon-Crow and Kailyn Raines from Toano; and Bridget Palermo and Katherine Fair from Hornsby.
