From “Crocodile Rock” to “Tiny Dancer,” he’s a pop-rock legend with global star power and knighthood.

He’s Sir Elton John, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra is staging a two-night performance to honor his creative legacy, titled “Madmen Across the Water: The Music of Elton John.”

The concert, featuring an eight-piece rock band and vocalist Jean Meilleur, will be performed on Nov. 4 at the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News, 1 Avenue of the Arts, and on Nov. 5 at Norfolk’s Chrysler Hall, 215 St. Pauls Blvd. Both events start at 8 p.m.

Over the course of his career, Elton John has sold 250 albums worldwide, making him the third most successful artist in the history of the American charts, behind only the Beatles and Elvis Presley, according to a release. His accolades include 37 gold records and 27 multi-platinum ones.

Tickets to the VSO concerts are available starting at $25 from the VSO Box Office, 150 Boush St. in Norfolk, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Tickets can also be purchased online at or by calling 757-892-6366. Group packages of 10 or more tickets are available at 757-213-1436.
