Colonial Williamsburg will host Matuto, a Brazilian-style bluegrass band based out of Brooklyn, New York, Wednesday at the Kimball Theatre.
The band is a “groove-based collective, drawn to the dance rhythms of Brazilian roots music,” according to a Colonial Williamsburg news release.
Colonial Williamsburg has indicated that the Matuto show will not be a one-of-a-kind occurrence for the Kimball.
“It [Matuto] will be a cool show in and of itself, but it’s also part of a broader shift in programming at the Kimball. We will now be producing more current, world-class shows there,” said Joseph Straw, public relations manager for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Matuto has previously toured across the world as U.S. State Department musical ambassadors, and will perform with special guests Tin Can Fish Band on Wednesday night.
Tickets are available online for $20 each. Wednesday’s show will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
