Participants in a charity walk this weekend may work up an appetite but their exercise will help raise food for the less fortunate.

The 11th annual Walk for Hunger and RE/MAX Balloon Event is being hosted by Greater First Colony Area Civic Association and RE/MAX Capital on Saturday, Oct. 29.  In 2015 the neighborhood donated 1600 pounds of food to needy families in Grove, as well as to FISH, a local charity that celebrated its 40th year of service last year.  GFCACA hopes to raise 2000 pounds of food this weekend.

“We are a civic association that is highly volunteer oriented,” said Bobby Jankovic, Broker and Owner at RE/MAX Capital and member of GFCACA.  “Neighbors routinely volunteer dozens of hours monthly to help the community.”

The walk will begin at 125 Pasbehegh Drive at the neighborhood park and will kick off at 9:15 a.m.  A food donation is required to participate.

RE/MAX Capital will be providing hot air balloon rides, weather permitting.  Donors can participate in games, face painting, pumpkin giveaways and a raffle.  Lite refreshments will be provided.
