The Williamsburg Parks & Recreation Department is throwing a paw-ty in the park this Saturday by hosting a Canine Carnival.

According to a news release from the Williamsburg Parks & Recreation Department, the carnival will take place near the Waller Mill dog park at 901 Airport Road from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The tail-gating festivities will feature pet vendors, services, and demonstrations — as well as dogs from the Heritage Humane Society looking for a “fur-ever home,” the release stated.

The event will also include a costume contest with prizes awarded by Nautical Dog for the best-costumed pups and the best dog-and-owner duo.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., dachshunds will be invited to compete in one of three wiener dog races. The dogs will race in groups of five, with each group ranked by division.

Vaccination papers are required to enter the enclosed dog park.
