Charles Ervin Carter, 77, of King William, passed away Oct. 19, 2016. Charles served his country in the U.S. National Guard and Air Force, and retired from Chesapeake Corporation after 31 years as a power plant foreman. He was a die-hard Redskins and King William Cavaliers fan.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Carter; and children, Pamela Carter, Cheryl Knight, James Carter, Michael Carter (Letha) and Donna Byrd (Brian); seven grandchildren, Tiffany Knight, Tamara Broaddus (Tim), Courtney Carter, Nikki Smith, Mac Carter, Danni Carter and Jordan Byrd; and three great-granddaughters, Alana Carter, Aubrie Cooper, and Gabby Broaddus.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23, at First Baptist Church West Point. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, VA. Interment will take place Monday in Summerfield Methodist Church Cemetery, Fries, VA.
