WILLIAMSBURG – Colonel (Ret) George Beers Dibble, Jr., 77, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on Oct. 6, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances and George Dibble, Sr.; and his sister, Mary Frances.
In addition to earning a Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Alabama, he attained his Master’s Degree in Business from Babson College, Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Colonel Dibble’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Meritorious Service Medal (w/3 OLC), the Air Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (w/1 OLC), the RVN Commendation Medal, the Army General Staff Badge, Legion of Merit (w OLC), Combat Infantryman Badge, Special Forces Tab, Master Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed sailing, playing golf, skiing and being on the water. He also truly enjoyed the companionship of his dogs.
Colonel Dibble is survived by his wife of 50 years, Courtney Dibble; his son, George M. Dibble; his grandchildren, Caden Dibble, Lyric Dibble and Jedi Dibble; niece, Elizabeth Sholar (Jimmy); and Nephew, James Johnson.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA. A service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA.
