James City County police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred at Elk’s Lodge early Sunday morning, sending two men to the hospital.
According to a release from the James City County Police Department, 34-year-old Johnnie Mathew Chapman of James City County was arrested Tuesday by James City County Police in connection with the Sept. 25 shooting at the Elk’s Lodge at 105 Howard Drive.

Two adult male victims were struck by gunfire and were transported by medics to Riverside Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival, the release stated.
The JCCPD investigation revealed that a third male victim was grazed by a bullet and authorities determined that the incident was not a random shooting, that Chapman targeted the three victims, the release stated.
