The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a Williamsburg homicide investigation that began Sunday afternoon.

According to information posted on the YPSO Facebook page, deputies and medics responded to a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of Burgundy Road in the Williamsburg area of York County around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies and medics arrived to find the male resident inside the house deceased from a suspected gunshot wound. The female resident was immediately detained, the post read.

“This appears to be a domestic situation, but we are still trying to verify the actual relationship between the suspect and the victim,” the post stated.

Upon further investigation the female suspect was arrested and charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the post read.

Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, the YPSO has declined to release the names of those involved in the incident. The office is still trying to locate the next of kin, the post stated.
