JCCPD search for gunman who shot into crowd at Elk’s Lodge, injuring two

jcc-police-car-483x300Authorities in James City County are searching for a gunman who they say shot into a crowd during an event at Elk’s Lodge early Sunday morning.

According to Stephanie Williams, a spokesperson with the James City County police, officers responded to a call around 12:30 a.m. Sunday about an armed man firing at a people during an event in the Elk’s Lodge on Howard Drive.

Two men were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, but both are expected to survive, Williams said.

The suspect is still at large and, according to Williams, it is not known what was motivating the suspect to shoot into the crowd.

Officers have not provided a description of the suspect, who escaped before police arrived, but will provide one as soon as it becomes available, said Williams.
