Williamsburg Police carJust before 1 a.m. Saturday morning, Williamsburg Police responded to a call reporting shots were fired outside Crust restaurant located in the 200 block of Richmond Road.  

Upon arrival, officers spoke to witnesses, who reported that several shots were fired outside the restaurant. The incident occurred just after two groups of people were leaving, following an altercation inside the restaurant, according to a news release from the Williamsburg Police Department.

The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, was described as a black male 18 to 30 years of age. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, the release stated.

One person was injured by a round and was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News for a non-life threatening injury.

“We are working on identifying him right now,” Maj. Greg Riley said of the shooter. “Hopefully people who were at the restaurant last night when this occurred they can come forward and help us ID the people who are involved and ID the shooter.”
