Howard Garnett Cooke Jr., 84, of Lanexa, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016.
He was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Elko, Virginia to the late Howard Sr. and Lula Cooke. Howard graduated from Highland Springs High School and was a Marine veteran of the Korean War, who retired from Newport News Waterworks after 40 years of service.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty S. Cooke; and sisters, Clarice House and Doris Wright. He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Janet) of Lanexa, and Barry (Donna) of Williamsburg; grandsons, Dallas (Kelly) of El Paso, Texas, Phillip (Sydney) and Tommy all of Greenville, South Carolina; great-granddaughters, Elle and Evie; sisters, Nettie Callahan, Eunice Jackson and Alta Mae Bruce; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale and Patriots Colony for the loving support and care given to their father and grandfather.
