Louis M. ‘Lou’ Personte, 92, shipyard retiree known for work ethic, sense of humor

Louis M. Personte (“Lou” as he was known to friends), born June 5, 1924 in Rochester, New York, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was 92.

He served in the U.S. Navy from June 1943 to March 1946. Lou was an engineer at Sup. Ships in Newport News, retiring in May 1987. He was known for his hard work ethic, great sense of humor and character.

Lou is survived by his only child, Patricia P. Whisnant, and his only grandchild, Stephanie Whisnant Cash.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the College of William and Mary Catholic Chapel, 10 Harrison Avenue, Williamsburg. Interment followed in Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery, 12751 Nettles Drive, Newport News.
