The York County branch of International Student Exchange is searching for host families for this year’s incoming high school exchange students.
According to a press release from the organization, the exchange students will arrive in early September and depart mid-January or mid-June, depending on whether the student is enrolled for the full year or one semester.
Students arrive with their own spending money and health insurance, are fluent in English and must attend the high school for which the host family is zoned. Volunteer host families are responsible for the student’s room and board. Families and students are matched by shared interests and hobbies, preferred country of origin, age, and gender, the release stated.
“Hosting is a wonderful way to learn about another country and culture while sharing our own,” Welby Whiting, Regional Manager with International Student Exchange said in the release. “For a family with young children, hosting is a wonderful way to introduce them early on to another country and culture and for those children already learning a language in school, hosting gives them a chance to try that language one-on-one with a native speaker.”
Families willing to host a student can contact Welby Whiting, Regional Manager with International Student Exchange at 757-566-1225 or email email@example.com.
