William “Billy” Hansford, 71, passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2016, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
A York County native, Billy served as a York County firefighter and proudly worked in civil service at Fort Eustis for more than 20 years. After retirement, he owned and operated Beachcomber Restaurant in York County with his wife, Cynthia Hansford. He loved the water, camping, his family and good times with friends. He was known for his generosity, sense of humor and playful spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Brake and Herbert C. Hansford; his brother, Earl; his sister, Julia; and his beloved son, Lonnie.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend, Cindy; his daughter, Becki (Johnnie); his stepchildren, Amber (Steve), Bobby (Michelle); his grandchildren, Marina, Hayden, Jackson, Ryley, Skye and Baylor; his brothers, Sonny and Joe; his sisters, Dale and Kim; his special Aunt Mary; and many other dear friends and family.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Amory Funeral Home in Grafton, Va.
