Area neighborhood groups and homeowner associations can now apply for a series of grants from a local commission focused on promoting recycling, litter control, environmental education, and beautification projects.
According to a news release, James City County’s Clean County Commission will award a total of ten $500 Good Neighbor Environment grants to qualifying projects focused on improving environmental quality and minimizing environmental impacts. Several examples of projects include entryway landscaping, trail improvements, energy saving techniques and community gardens, the release stated.
According to the release, the overall goal of the Good Neighbor Environment grant is to enhance a sense of community and environmental wellness “through the development and accomplishment of sustainable landscape beautification projects.”
Grant applications are available online and must be submitted prior to 5 p.m. on Sept. 1.
