Warren Temple Gatewood Jr., 71, operated farm in King William, Va., until retiring in 2010

Warren Temple Gatewood, Jr., 71, of King and Queen Courthouse, departed this life on Aug. 2, 2016.

He was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church in King William, Va. Upon selling his farm, Aspen Grove in King William to the Lomax Foundation, he was retained as farm manager until his retirement in 2010.

Temple never met a stranger, and those who knew him best know his motto was, “Buy, Sell or Trade.” An avid outdoorsman, he always enjoyed bird-hunting and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, William.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gailya; son, Jonathan (Tish) of Aylett, Va.; sisters, Carolyn Mitchell (Billy) of Hopewell, Va., and Bertha Townsend (Barnes) of King William, Va.; and brother, William Gatewood (Chrys) of Bath, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, Va.  A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, King William, Va.
