Theresa Delia Forrest “Ressie” Smith, 62, a native of Poquoson, Va., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 22, 2016.
She was a 1972 graduate of Poquoson High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She worked at the V.A. Medical Center in Hampton, Va., for many years.
Ressie was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Virginia and Leo Carl Forrest Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Misty Lee Smith Landers (Donnie Jr.) of Japan and Ashley Marie Smith McCarty of Hampton, Va.; siblings, Jennifer Forrest Allen, Leo Carl Forrest Jr. and Sonya Forrest Wells, all of Poquoson, Va.; six grandchildren, Isaiah Deondre Landers, Jacobi Lebron Landers, Josiah Keanu Landers, Dennis James Coleman Jr., Austin Louis McCarty and Elijah Stanley McCarty; a cousin, Virginia Lee Carmines of Poquoson, Va.; and a dear friend of 40 years, Pattye Oliver.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Parklawn Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum in Hampton, Va. Immediately following, there will her funeral service led by the Rev. Carol Bookwalter. Burial will then follow at the cemetery.
