A collection of votive candles rests beside the tidy flowerbeds and well-tended, ranch-style homes along Stewart Drive in the Bruton District of York County, where Kameron Stanley, 18, was shot to death Friday evening.
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a call at approximately 6:32 p.m. Friday that a shooting had occurred in front of a residence on the 1000 block of Stewart Drive.
The victim, according to information YPSO posted on Facebook, “was standing next to the curb in front of the residence when three suspects pulled up in a green Mercedes. One of the occupants pulled out a gun and shot Kameron [Stanley] several times.”
Stanley was transported to the hospital and later died from his injuries.
One of the suspects, 18-year-old Johnathan Cotman was arrested without incident in Charles City County Saturday morning. Another suspect, a 17-year-old from James City County, turned himself in. YPSO is still searching for a third suspect, a 17-year-old black male, who is believed to reside in James City County.
The recent murder comes just seven months after a 22-year-old man was fatally shot in the street on the 1100 block of Wilkins Drive in the York Terrace neighborhood, just blocks from where Stanley was killed.
All of the suspects in Friday’s killing are charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
