Season tickets are now on sale for the premiere of the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, formerly known as The Williamsburg Symphonia. The 2016-2017 season will open in October with “Soprano Sensation,” featuring guest vocalist Julia Bullock.

Hailed by the New York Times as a “striking soprano,” Bullock will sing works by Villa-Lobos, Poulenc, Weill and Gershwin. Prior to performing with The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, Bullock will make guest appearances with the L.A. Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Mostly Mozart Festival at the Lincoln Center in New York.

According to a release from the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, the group has five Masterworks concerts scheduled between October and May, with artists joining the orchestra in October, March and May.

This will mark the 13th season for the groups’s music director, Janna Hymes, who, the release states, will present “a dynamic series programmed to showcase the talents of several up-and-coming guest artists as well as the outstanding musicianship of the orchestra.”
