Faith Holloway Joye, 68, a lifelong resident of Poquoson, Va., crossed peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2016, after a long illness.
She worked in civil service for many years and retired as a mortgage banker. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she held many offices.
Faith was a graduate of Poquoson High School, Class of 1966, and was head of the Poquoson Seafood Festival for many years. She loved crocheting and knitting, making afghan blankets for much of her family, and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Emma and Arthur Vaden Holloway Sr.; brothers, A. V. Holloway and Robert Floyd Holloway; sisters, Ella Mae Paul and Sue Gorde; aunt, Florence Pauls; and best friends, Frances Riggins and Myrna Gail Wechsler.
She is survived by her husband since 1988, Kenneth O. Joye; daughters, Amber Dawn Freeman Thompson and Angela Joye Reid; sons, Duane Joye and Kenneth A. Joye; sisters, Betty Holloway Watkins, Peggy Holloway Harris and Mary Holloway Barr; grandchildren, Miranda, Marissa, Hannah, Matthew, Madisson, Meredith, David and Reese; many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as if they were her own; BFF’s, Maureen, Anne and Paula; and her furry child, Rocky.
A celebration of Faith’s life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, Va., led by Gordon Helsel. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Scattering of Faith’s ashes will be at a later date. At other times the family will be at her daughter Amber’s home.
Faith’s request was that donations in her memory be made to Helping Hands, 11 Olde Pond Road, Poquoson, VA, 23662.
