Carrie James Firth, 90, lifelong Poquoson resident

Carrie J. Firth, 90, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at home with her family by her side.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, Va. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, always considering her family to be her greatest treasure. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Carrie was preceded in death by husband, John W. Firth; son, Michael Firth; parents, Elijah and Sadie Firth Cox; and all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, James E. Firth (Violet) and Bruce R. Firth (Rita); daughters, Carrie Selby, Frances Messick (Billy) and Arlene Sauve; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, immediately followed by a funeral service led by Pastor David Price, all at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, 836 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, Va. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, Va. At other times, the family will be at the home of Arlene Sauve.
