Alonso “Lonnie” Warren Smith, 64, of Charles City, Va., passed away July 16, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

He graduated from Charles City High School and was a member of Elam Baptist Church.

Lonnie retired from Newport News Shipyard after 30 years of service. He loved life and was passionate about his family. Lonnie also enjoyed motorcycles and cars and was a member of the Tin Shed Car Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Smith.

Lonnie is survived by his, mother Alease Smith; a daughter, Courtney Crawley; a son, Lonta Smith; a grandson, Christian Crawley; a brother, Richard Smith; four sisters, June Crawley (Terry), Crystal Logan, Ruby Smith (Robb) and Sharon Davis; devoted cousins, Ernest and Keith Jones; four aunts, four uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Elam Baptist Church, Charles City, Va. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va.
