Having trouble making a summer road trip playlist? The Williamsburg Regional Library can help.

WRL cardholders can now stream up to three hours of ad-free music every day thanks to a grant from the Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library.

According to a recent WRL press release, the grant provides library users access to Freegal Music Streaming, a service that includes content from over 28,000 music labels, including the entire Sony Music collection.

The service can be accessed on a personal computer, tablet, smart phone, or other mobile device to stream music, make artist lists and create playlists for a customized listening experience.

For the past four years, WRL has offered users the opportunity to download three songs per week from the Freegal Music collection. During that time, users have downloaded over 94,000 songs.

“Recent research indicates that 68 percent of U.S.-based smartphone owners listen to music via streaming outlets on a daily basis,” Melissa Simpson, WRL’s Adult Services Director, said in the release. “Freegal Music Streaming is a great complement to our popular Freegal Music download service as well as our music CD collection.”
