Marjorie Nelson, 75, a native of North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2016, at her home.
Her life’s journey here on Earth began on Sept. 21, 1940. Her home now is the mansion Christ has prepared for her.
She retired from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, as an administrative assistant, after many years of service. After making Williamsburg her home, she joined New Zion Baptist Church and served her church as a member of the choir. She was a loving and kind person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Oliver R. Nelson; her mother, Sarah Williams.; her aunt, Annie Peterson; her devoted cousin, Chico Doughtie (Barbara); and other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, July 20, 2016, in New Zion Baptist Church, 3991 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, Va., with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the church by 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Mrs. Nelson may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Va.
