Elizabeth “Betty” Grohs, 83, of Newark, Del., passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, at Dominion Village in Poquoson, Va.
Born Nov. 7, 1932, in Unionville, Pa., to the late John Paul and Eleanor Heald Galloway, Betty resided in Newark, Del., for nearly 60 years and in Poquoson, Va., for the past year. She met the love of her life, Richard Grohs, while attending King’s College in Delaware City, Del., and they were married on April 14, 1954.
Always a positive and cheerful person, Betty was loved by all. She was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether teaching in the classroom or serving in the children’s ministries of her church, she always had a heart for children and they loved her in return.
Betty will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Richard Walter Grohs; son Rich Grohs (Deb) of Poquoson, Va.; daughters, Cheryl Warrington of Langhorne, Pa., and Linda Burke (Don) of Langhorne, Pa.; six grandchildren, J.R. (Heidi), Kristin (Kevin), Josh (Mandie), Jake (Courtney), Ryan and Daniel; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Edna) Galloway and Ron (Janice) Galloway; and a sister, Barbara (Ed) Pietlock.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Newark, Del.
The family would like to thank Dr. Suzette Worbois of Visiting Physicians Association, the staff of Hospice of Virginia, and especially the staff at Dominion Village of Poquoson, Va., who cared for Betty like family.
