Chesapeake Bank will collect school supplies and monetary donations at its Five Forks, Lightfoot and Lafayette Street branches from July 18 to 29 to support the R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program.

Started in 2013, Bright Beginnings provides students in need with a backpack of school supplies and $150 in clothes and shoes to launch them into a successful school year.

Among the requested school supplies are backpacks, crayons, pencils, pens, markers, glue sticks, scissors and composition books. A full list of supplies can be found at any Chesapeake Bank branch.

A special collection drive will be held Sunday, July 24, at the free summer movie night on Prince George Street. Sponsored by Blue Talon Bistro, attendees can view the family-friendly film The Good Dinosaur.

Additionally, those in attendance will be entered to win a Good Dinosaur themed toy for every school supply or dollar donated that evening.
