Thomas J. Hipple Jr., 91, of Lightfoot, died July 3, 2016, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Norfolk, Va., on June 22, 1925, the son of the late Thomas Joseph and Margaret Burlas Hipple. He graduated from St. Joseph Academy School. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II (1943-1946), he was employed by C&P Telephone Company until he retired. He was a devout Catholic and a devoted family man.

Thomas was preceded in death by Ann, his loving wife of 63 years, and his sister, Catherine H. Newsome, of Norfolk, Va.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret H. Sample, of Florida; his eight children, Thomas J. Hipple III, Linda McDonough (Kevin), Sharon H. Dawson (Chris), Tammy H. Corsico-Piccolino (Alex), Mark J. Hipple, Michael J. Hipple (Kristin), Matthew J. Hipple (Rita) and John J. Hipple (Sharlene). He also is survived by 33 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was loved by many.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Va. His Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 104 Norge Lane, Williamsburg. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3000 Church St., Norfolk, Va.
