Daryl L. “Billy” McGowan, 61, of West Point, Va. passed away July 4, 2016.
Billy recently retired from West Rock after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8116 and Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed every aspect of nature, especially fishing and duck hunting. Billy was an avid sports fan, always cheering for UVA, the Baltimore Orioles, the New York Giants and Jeff Gordon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Punksie” and Bessie Wray, and a sister Johnna Wray.
Billy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janice McGowan; his children, Holly, Andrew and Patrick McGowan; the pride and joy of his life, his grandsons, Collin and Jack Lewis; his siblings, Sherry Ann Almond (Lenny), Beverly Farmer and C. L. McGowan; many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 3570 King William Avenue, West Point, Va. Interment will follow in St. Theresa Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 7, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, Va.
