Robert Ray “Bobby” West, 85, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was a master brick and stone mason for more than 60 years and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to garden being outdoors. He was a lifetime member of both the Happy Hollow Hunt Club, New Kent, and the Chesapeake Hunt Club, where he served as Hound Master.
Bobby was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie West Hunt; parents, Fulton R. and Patsy Edwards West; and birth mother, Hilda V. Forrest.
He is survived by a son, Rick West (Judy); daughters, Debbie Cobb and her partner Tony Martin, and Vickie West and her partner Terry Gooding; grandchildren, Tiffany, Derrick, Natalie, Erin, Joshua and Naomi; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, James Cottee.
A Celebration of Bobby’s life was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, led by Pastor Thomas Lane, immediately followed by visitation with the family at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at a later date.
