Michael Oliver Sacks, 104, Navy veteran of WW II

Michael Oliver “Ollie” Sacks of Williamsburg, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, died June 24, 2016, surrounded by family at his home. He was 104 years old.

Ollie, a native of Philadelphia Pa., was the son of Henry and Fyetta Neubert Sacks. After the war, he worked as a salesman for Sears Roebuck and Company. He further honed his salesman skills and entered the field of real estate, becoming one of Pennsylvania’s top realtors. He fulfilled his real estate career as a broker.

Ollie was best known for his upbeat attitude, winning smile and always having a song in his heart. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Gertrude Hinderliter Sacks; daughters, Linda Schuttter (Dan) and Carol Reen (Ken); sons, Richard (Andrea) and Charles (Penny); nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;  two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Ollie’s memory be directed to Colonial Manor, 8679 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Va., or Hospice Community Care,1064 Loftus Blvd., Newport News, Va.
