Joseph Cecil “Stinka” Collier answered the Master’s call on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. His life began on October 27, 1953, the son of Delores and Cecil Collier.

He was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He attended Berkeley High School and retired from the College of William & Mary after 17 years of service. He was a loving and kind person who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves to treasure his memories his son, DeCarlos King (Patricia); parents, Delores and Cecil Collier; brother, Michael Collier; sister, Colette Roots (Daryl); three grandchildren, Maurice, Marquise and Alexis; aunt, Linda Walters; uncle, Lewis Tyler (Diane); nieces, Lolita Crew and Cordney Roots; nephews, Cortez Roots and Terrell Gaines; great-nieces, Ayanna Crew, Kaira Roots, Niada Gaines and Corniya Roots; great-nephews, Kahran Roots, Matthew and Aiden Gaines and Caiden Roots; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Morris Randall and Minister Van Hook officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
