Lindsey Monroe “Sonny” Cordle, 67, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Sonny was a native of Tazewell and a longtime Peninsula resident.

Mr. Cordle was a U.S. Army veteran and had been self-employed as a contractor for many years. He loved all types of music and enjoyed watching his children sing. He was a member of Lafayette Gun Club and enjoyed going to flea markets and looking for great buys. He loved spending time with his family and many close friends, who he cared for deeply.

He is survived by his wife and companion of nearly 20 years, Cindy Cordle; son, Raymond L. Meeks Jr.; daughter, Kasey Rae Meeks; sisters, Mary Faye Munn of Newport News, Drema K. Stimely of Willis and Shirley Ann Horton of Smithfield; brothers, Mackie Cordle of Surry and William T. Cordle and Dennis A. Cordle, both of Newport News; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends and family.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Seaford Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Howard officiating services. The family will receive friends following the service at Coxton’s, Building D, Route 17, Yorktown.

Memorial donations on behalf of his best friend, Dixie, may be made to the Peninsula SPCA, 523 J.Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
