Remigia Mary Riley, 87, known to most as “Mimi,” passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldemar Riley.

Mimi worked as the chief dietitian for the former Williamsburg Community Hospital, retiring after 31 years. Following her retirement, she continued working as a dietary consultant. She was a member of Saint Bede Catholic Church for over 61 years, and her Saint Bede family was incredibly important to her. Her spirituality and strong faith guided her throughout her life.

Mimi spent many years serving as the scorekeeper for the Motor House, Kingspoint, and the College of William & Mary swim teams, where her husband coached. She was an avid tennis player, and very active around town, where she could often be seen at the Chickahominy House or walking Duke of Gloucester Street. Mimi, or “Mama Bear” and “MiMaw,” as she became known in the community, had many close friends who will miss her.

Mimi is survived by her sons, Mark Riley (Bonnie) and Kevin Riley (Andrea Dorcy). She also cherished her time with her beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Taytem, Atticus and McKenzie.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at noon Tuesday, June 28, at Saint Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, with a reception following. Interment will be held in Williamsburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Retirement Fund for Religious, National Religious Retirement Office, P.O. Box 96988, Washington, D.C. 20090-6988.
