Valda R. Anderson, 88, retired from Colonial Williamsburg after 40 years’ service is your source for free news and information in Williamsburg, James City & York Counties.

Valda R. Anderson, of Williamsburg, left her earthly home Monday, June 13, 2016, at Williamsburg Sentara Hospital. Born in Throckmorton, Texas, September 22, 1927, she lived in Williamsburg most of her adult life.

She retired from Colonial Williamsburg with more than 40 years of service. She was a member of the Norge Saddle Club and Williamsburg Women of the Moose.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Anderson, parents and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Bruce L. Anderson (Paula); two sisters, Jimmie Nell Roberts and Naomi Ward; two grandsons, Benjamin and Aaron; and special friends, Phyllis Kokoruda, Mary O’Donnell and Barbara Abbott.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.  Tuesday, June 21, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Wiley.

As per the family requests, contributions may be made to York and James City Rescue squads.
