Rickey Jefferson Sr. was born on September 27, 1957, and passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016.
He attended Charles City Public Schools and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He spent many years in the food industry as a banquet server. Mr. Jefferson worked for Colonial Williamsburg for over 20 years, and at the time of his death, he was employed by the Double Tree Hilton Hotel. In August of 2010, Rickey married Yolanda Palmer. He attended Chickahominy Baptist Church until the time of his death.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife, Yolanda; mother, Marion Wallace; father, Wilbur Jefferson Sr. (Belinda); children, Rickey Robinson, Rickey Jefferson Jr. (Jeremy), Roderick Piggott and Tera Palmer; sisters, Wanda Jones (Robert), Michelle Washington (Perry) and Angel Jefferson; brothers, Wilbur Jefferson Jr. (Felicia), Michael Jefferson Sr. and Eric Jefferson (Helen); and two grandchildren, two godchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Jefferson may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, June 16, at Chickahominy Baptist Church, Toano. Family and friends to assemble at the church by 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will be held at noon Tuesday, June 21, in Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. Family will be at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, to follow the hearse to the cemetery.
