On Friday, June 10, 2016, James H. “Juicy” Slade went home to be with the Lord. He was born on January 23, 1933, the son of the late Lola Russell Slade and James “Bottoms” Slade, in Moores, now known as Tabb.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later retired from Langley Air Force Base as a budget analyst with 33 years of dedicated service.
James was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Gloria Whiting Slade; grandson, Dominic Foster; brother, Eugene Slade; and brother-in-law, Sterling Whiting.
He leaves to cherish his blessed memories his children, Carroll G. Slade and Denise Y. Slade-Foster; two sisters, Eva Lorraine Wormley and Norma Faye Johnson; three grandchildren, Nikkia Slade, Dionne Foster and Christy Slade; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, June 17, at Living Word Family Church, 110 Industry Drive, Yorktown. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton.
