Two Drummers Smokehouse earned unanimous support Tuesday from the James City County Board of Supervisors to move forward with its proposed 5,223-square-foot expansion.
MM&W Properties, LLC, which owns the land on which Two Drummers is located, applied for a special-use permit to expand the restaurant as well as neighboring business Extra Mile Landscapes.
“I’m glad to see them growing and utilizing the area they have to bring even more business into James City County,” said Board Chairman Michael Hipple (Powhatan).
Board members agreed that the planned infrastructure improvements, which include relocating the restaurant’s parking lot to the rear of the building and installing a turn lane for drivers entering the property, would benefit the Toano community.
Two Drummers, located at 8864 Richmond Road, has served up barbecue and southern cuisine since 2013. Co-owner and chef Jason Wade said the expansion will result in more indoor seating and a larger kitchen to accommodate restaurant and catering customers.
