Robert Frederick Folsom, 21, passed away Sunday, June 5. He was born in Fredericksburg, and lived in San Diego, Calif., Richmond and Williamsburg.

He was a graduate of Jamestown High School, class of 2013, where he was captain of the men’s varsity swim team. He attended Purdue University, where he was studying I.T. and software development. He was also a proud member of the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Tau Delta.

He is survived by his parents, Lee and David Folsom, and his sister, Elizabeth Folsom, all of Williamsburg; aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Peter Altenburger, and cousins, Katherine, Samuel and Jack Altenburger, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; aunt and uncle, Amy and Stephen Kett, and cousins, John and Andrew Kett, all of Great Falls; grandmother, Anne Ricker, of Louisville, Ky.; and great uncle, Eugene Costello of San Francisco, Calif.

Robert worked as a lifeguard at several local pools for many years. He enjoyed coaching and teaching younger children to swim. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation.
