Forty-six graduating seniors from Williamsburg-James City County Schools have received scholarships from the Williamsburg Community Foundation.

The foundation’s WJCC Scholarship Fund awarded a total of $55,925, which came from contributions from individuals, businesses and civic groups.

Students were selected for the scholarships based the difficulty of the curriculum they pursued, class rank, extra-curricular activities, demonstrated financial need and the content of an application essay.

Each student received a scholarship valued at $1,000 or more to go toward their post-high school pursuits, according to a news release from the foundation.
