Registration is now open for Virginia Cooperative Extension’s York/Poquoson 4-H Chrysanthemum Project.

This award-winning youth project is open to kids ages 9-18 in York County and Poquoson.

Participants will receive materials needed to grow 15 mums throughout the summer. Classes will include lessons on plant care, accounting, marketing a product and developing a business plan.

At the end of the course, participants will have the opportunity to sell their mums at a Yorktown Market Days event in the fall.

Classes will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 13, 20, 27, July 25 and an additional date in August that is yet to be determined.

Space is limited to 30 youths and there is a $20 registration fee.

Registration should be completed by June 10 by calling the Extension office at 757-890-4940.
