Diana Ericson slipped into eternal rest on Monday, May 23, 2016. She was born October 29, 1945, in Hampton to Raymond and Vernice Cooper.
At age four she lost her mother to an auto accident and afterwards was raised by her aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Ted. She graduated from Hampton High School. After raising two sons, Diana attended nursing school and graduated in the top 1 percent of her class. She worked as an LPN and moved to York County in 1992. She found her niche at Tidewater Orthopaedics, retiring in 2006.
She loved cooking and baking all those cakes, brownies, sticky buns and peanut butter balls for Christmas, But her greatest love was her family.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Vernice; mama and uncle, Dorothy and Ted; and youngest son, Billy.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John; son, Bobby Ericson; two granddaughters, Brittany Ericson and Chelsea Ericson; and three great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Diana’s funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Cromer officiating. Burial was in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
