Rodney Donnell Walker, 59, suddenly entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 23, 2016. His life began August 19, 1956, the son of the late Toney B. Walker and Eva V. Walker.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and employed by Huntington Ingalls, where he celebrated 40 years of service on May 11, 2016. Rodney was very well loved and will be remembered for his loving and caring ways.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Walker Sr., Lonnie Walker Sr. and Robert Walker Sr., and a sister, Vertana Lawrence.
He leaves many cherished memories with his loving and devoted children, Lukas James, Amanda Walker and Ryan Walker; grandchildren, Keilah James and Keiree James; three sisters, Novena Burden (Abraham), Wynona Walker and Yolanda Batten (Charles); two brothers, John Walker and Alphonso Walker Sr. (Avis); a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, May 28, at Bethel Restoration Center, with the Rev. Alphonso Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamsburg. Family and friends will assemble by 10 a.m. on Saturday at 17 Evans St., Hampton.
