Leo Paul Rogers, Sr., 84, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Williamsburg Landing with his loved ones by his side.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1932, in Bronx, N.Y. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy Reserves. A man who believed in a strong work ethic, he was employed by Citibank at the age of 16 and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. During this time he also attended NYU, where he received his Master’s Degree in finance.
On May 23, 1954, he met his best friend, soul mate and the love of his life, Rose Garofalo. They were married almost 62 years.
Leo had many hobbies that included bridge, and soon he became a life master. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a history enthusiast and a financial adviser to his family and friends.
Leo is survived by his loving wife, Rose Rogers of Williamsburg; children, Lynda (Bill) Kleiwerda of Williamsburg, Lorraine Linzenberg of Mahwah, N.J., and Leo Paul (Kim) Rogers, Jr., of Leesburg; grandchildren, James Linzenberg, Michelle (Steven) Cusumano, Danielle (Ruben) Diaz, Sarah (Andrew) Kessler, Amy Rogers, Leo Paul Rogers III, Jacob Rogers and Piper Rogers; six great-grandchildren; their beloved pet, Marty; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.
