Judith Hamm Golden, otherwise known as ‘MeMaw’ and ‘Boss Hogge,’ 72, a native of Seaford, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016, after a long illness in Roanoke.

She was born in Dixie Hospital in Hampton to Smith and Anna Virginia Hamm.

Mrs. Golden was married on October 7, 1961, to Bobby Allen Golden Sr. at Zion United Methodist Church in Seaford. She graduated York High School, Class of 1962.

She was a charter member of the Bethel 39 Job’s Daughters of Yorktown, former member of Seaford Women’s Club of Seaford and a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church. She worked at the U.S. Coast Guard Base PX, as a school bus driver for York County School Division and assisted special needs children on school bus. He was a loving wife, Mom and Memaw.

She resided in Seaford; Rock Hill, S.C.; Yorktown; Winston-Salem, N.C., and Roanoke. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, word-search puzzles and taking care of her grandchildren. She never knew a stranger.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bobby Allen Golden Sr. of Roanoke; son, Bobby Allen Golden Jr., and his wife, Christine Norris Golden, of Walnut Cove N.C.; daughter, Rebecca Lynne Golden of Roanoke; granddaughters, Brittany Golden White and Cheyenne Virginia Golden, both of Kernersville, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Hailey Nicole White; brother, George Wallace Hamm, and his wife, Janet Purcell, of Seaford; nieces, Julia Ann Harris and Jennifer Paige Hamm; great-nieces, Kylie and Taylor; and great-nephew, Garrett.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Zion United Methodist Church of Seaford with the Rev. Paul Sparrer and the Rev. David Magruder officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
