On a day when Warhill’s offense was not producing, Lions pitcher Keely Rochard allowed one hit and struck out seven batters en route to a 1-0 win at home against Jamestown on Monday.

Rochard was not the only pitcher to put together a solid performance. Jamestown pitcher Madalyn Morton allowed six hits and one run through 6-1/3 innings.

Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Warhill’s Makayla Fannin was able to score off a fielding error to end the contest.

Warhill (13-1) will visit Grafton on Tuesday, while Jamestown (4-11) will try to rebound at home against Bruton on Tuesday.

York Drubs Error-Riddled Rams

York was able to earn a decisive 11-1 road win against Lafayette on Monday thanks to 11 errors by the Rams.

Hayley Winfree opened the scoring for York in the top of the first inning by reaching base on an error, while Katie Russell was able to cross home plate.

In the second inning, Russell hit into a sacrifice fly that scored Savannah Henry.

Later that inning, Destiny Martinez reached on an error and scored Alyssa Auche. On the next at-bat, Miranda Yokum delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Mackenzie Brown.

York tacked on three more runs in the top of the third inning, all three resulting from Lafayette fielding errors.

Leading 7-0 in the top of the fourth inning, Auche smacked an RBI single into center field. On the next at-bat, Chelsea Evans advanced to home and put York up 9-0.

A pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning allowed York to end the game because of the Virginia High School League’s 10-run rule.

York (10-3) will visit Tabb on Tuesday, while Lafayette (3-10) will try to rebound at home against Poquoson on Tuesday.
