Phillip O. ‘Phil’ Clarke Sr., 71, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1963 to 1967. Phil had a passion for helping people and became a substance abuse counselor; while doing so, he counseled many people through difficult times in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Phillip Clarke III.

Phil is survived by his wife, Krystal Clarke; sons, Phillip Clarke II (Tina), and Christian Clarke; daughter, Charlene Clarke Houck; grandchildren, Phillip Clarke IV, Catherine and Dakota Camby and Cierra and Miranda Clarke; great-grandchildren, Noah Camby and Baby Clarke, arriving October 2016; sister, Barbara Noyse; and brothers, Christopher Hocquard and Michael Hocquard.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News.
