James City County Police are seeking the public’s help to determine who was involved in a shooting this afternoon at the Lafayette Square Apartments.
At about 12:45 p.m. police responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Dehaven Court. The shooting victim, a 20-year-old man, was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News with injuries that are not life-threatening.
As of 3 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Steve Rubino said police are still trying to determine who was involved and cannot reveal any information about a potential suspect or suspects. Police will release more information as it becomes available.
A handgun was recovered at the scene, but police do not believe it was used in the shooting. Rubino said police could not disclose how they made this determination at this time.
